The cangaço was an armed movement that lasted more than two centuries (XIX and XX) in northeaster of Brazil and can be associated with concepts like resistance and fight against the system of hereditary privileges present in the Brazilian history.

(France/Japon), artiste multimedia
Live drawing and sound performance,30 min

Across sound performances, I had created an idea about sound traveling to the audience, to create a soundscape between the limit of realistic sound and abstract one. I would like to direct the audience into a temporal narrative experience: “a narrative poetic dreamy travel”. Just like life, we encounter different moments after one another, with different moods and feelings.

Since year 2010, I started to use real-time drawing projection to present my work by using projector, computer drawing software “processing” and a Wacom drawing pen tablet, which evolves with sound into multimedia performances.

During live performances,I tried to create a narrative combination between sounds and drawings: as a means of leading the audience into an imaginary tales.

Ma’atzama, a word in Hebrew which comes from the root word for power (otzma) and means nation or sovereign power, yet the sound creates an association with the Hebrew word for self: atzma.Ma’atzama brings a table, small desk lamp, standing fan and two paper cut flies into the back right corner of the stage. The table lamp provides the only light onstage and in its glow, the face of a female figure. The bottom of the table is covered by a small curtain, hinting that there is something under the table which is not to be seen. Only her face and hands are visible, the energy of the motion above the surface hints at the forces that lie beneath. We first see her sitting there slowly sewing, then cuts the string with oversized metal scissors, sticks the needle in the a pin cushion on her head, and places the gold sewn strip on her dress. She is now ready. The movements are charged yet contained, contained in her body and in the relatively small space she’s inhabiting. With the aid of only a fan and a desk lamp she creates her own “motion picture”.

She is there alone, but also creating this richness. She creates her own movie, she creates a world, and she has her owninternal light source, her own emotional strength. She is self- maintained, like an Island. Her only companion is her echo- her shadow. The light is directed at her and creates her shadow on the wall behind her, giving her being and her movement extra volume, extra power. At one point, after moving forcefully and sharply in the clearly defined limited space of the table, she has enough of the limitation and she prepares herself to open up the space. She opens a secret drawer from which she takes out a small cork made box, she places it on the table and opens it to reveal a paper cut forest. She now ventures out with her source of light to the “other” part of the stage, the part which was undiscovered yet. As she makes her way a slide projector which was hidden till now casts it’s ray at the paper cut trees on the table and creates together with a complementary slide a projection of a small piece of nature.

Dance and Music,7 min

I will Dj on one side and play some of my own music for our performance with Laurence Shroeder on the other side.

Inês d’Almeÿ ( France/Portugal), Performer and Researcher
“Primeiro baloiço” performance/dance,15 min

My current research focuses around the idea of suspension, breathing, reverberation and sound. I use a wooden stick in balance on my body as a way to “reveal the invisible”of the movement of balance. I walk, sit, crawl, rest, look at you whilst balancing this invisible thread. This performance is meditative and intense in its subtle details, it draws traces in the air that surround us, invisible and ephemeral, yet it’s all about the presence.

The Incredible Dreamheadz (UK), multimedia artist
“Crossing Over” mix of music with film

A project which features live music, with both electronic and real instruments, as well as live performers, with singing, poetry and dance/performance.We create videos, that are born out of dreams. They are sometimes dark and surreal, at other times light. We believe in creating original videos,. We create our own original music, which we perform live. We live in Paris and have done performances with other projects, in festivals in Paris, Seville and Rome, as well as in England. Dreamheadz is a newly formed project.

We aim to take our audience into a dream world and create a surreal ambience, which is conjured up by the performers, the music, mixed together with pre-recorded videos, lasting between three and 10 minutes; covering a range of themes.

Film as dream, film as music. No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls. Ingmar Bergman

“Talking about dreams is like talking about movies, since the cinema uses the language of dreams; years can pass in a second and you can hop from one place to another. It’s a language made of image. And in the real cinema, every object and every light means something, as in a dream.” Federico Fellini

Anne Horel (France)

Bah oui !

Alexandre Pombo-Mendes (France), performer acteur

Rachida Amara (Tunisie), Artiste graveur,performante

Physiquement,on n’y voyait rien. Physiquement, Paul, il sentait bon. Physiquement, Paul, on l’aimait bien. Paul on l’avait catalogué depuis longtemps.
