Dimanche Rouge will be holding a video art screening at the Plateforme gallery on Sunday, July 14th 3-10pm, 73 rue des Haies, 75020 Paris (M° Buzenval, Maraîchers or Avron).
The screening will celebrate the 50th anniversary of video art with the 100×100=900 program produced by Magmart International Videoart Festival and presented by Marcus Kreiss, video artist and founder of Souvenirs From Earth.
Fifty years ago, Nam June Paik scattered television sets around the Galerie Parnass in Wuppertal, Germany, and proceeded to use magnets to distort the pictures on their screens. Today we look back at Paik’s Exposition of Music-Electronic Television as the moment when video art began.
To celebrate the medium’s half-century mark, the Magmart International Videoart Festival has asked 100 artists from all continents to contribute a work representing one year from the 20th century. The artists are pulled from former festival winners.
This international show is being screened by a host of prominent video art organisations throughout the world.
