Dimanche Rouge presents Olivia Wiederkehr’s performative installation “Spatial Practice of Daily Use,” on August 16th, 2013 at the Plateforme Gallery. In a span of approximately one hour, Wiederkehr will investigate the juxtaposition of her space in correspondence with an expedition-tent, in a spontaneous and interpretative performance that will respond to the site.
Olivia Wiederkehr is a Swiss installation and performance artist whose interest in spatial theory is largely influenced by French philosopher Henri Lefèbvre’s conception of space as a notional and substantial construct. Her work explores the appearance of “natural” and “human” spaces, and the interdependency of physical, social, and philosophical realms. Wiederkehr performs mostly with expedition-tents to portray the tension between human integration into nature, and the need to shelter and hide human constructs from natural spaces.
